Srila Giri Maharaja – “I welcome brutal honesty”

My dandavats to you Sriman Uddharan dasa.

To be brutally honest, Lilavati Devi and I think the article by Jagadananda Prabhu is a difficult read even with your corrections.

As Lilavati said “it is not succinct enough and doesn’t flow.”

A little “bombastic” I would add.

Then, following the line of being “brutally honest”, I don’t see how you could have written this to me just three days before (4/14/20), which pertained to the same article:

A few typos corrected otherwise okay.

Please explain how there could be such a vast disparity in your opinion.

Also, I had written to you:

Attached below please find “COVID-19_ The Krishna Karuna Virus” as edited by you with my additional remarks.

Please look them over. If you disagree with any of them, please let me know why so that I may reconsider.

In your reply you did not say if you agreed or disagreed with my corrections. In particular, I wonder if my attempts at correcting Jd’s grammar were on target or not, since that was one of my worst subjects in school. It seemed to me Jd made extensive use of independent clauses that were in the form of sentences but were disconnected from the subject, which was contained in a previous sentence.… Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “in remembrance of our Divine Masters”

Dear Sriman Uddharan dasa Adhikari.

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Masters.

“You cannot see me dancing, but in my heart I am dancing.”, so said Srila Sridhara Maharaja upon hearing the approach of the nagara sankirtana party as it returned to his Math. Likewise, reading your response to my email immediately caused me to dance very happily within my heart.

I was also very happy that you caused me to remember this talk of Srila Govinda Maharaja:

Student: If I act in a bad way, no nice, avaiṣṇava way, can the devotees chastise me and tell me, “No no. You should act this way.” They can do that? They can correct me?
Mohanānanda Prabhu: What Prabhu is asking is if he is behaviour, his etiquette, is not Vaiṣṇava etiquette way, can other devotees correct him?
Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: Yes, if [behaviour is not Vaiṣṇava way? 12:15], other devotees must correct, but friendly.
Student: And if I argue back?
Śrīla Govinda Mahārāj: Yes, friendly and affectionately. Otherwise, not will listen from you. I have seen it. I can chastise Kṛṣṇa Śaraṇ. You know Kṛṣṇa Śaraṇ. Now Araṇya Mahārāj. But Hari Charaṇ. I also gave sometime slap to Hari Charaṇ.… Read More...

Uddharan dasa – “Krishna Karuna virus”

Dear Sripada Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

Will you please post the letter below my signature?

The post is now done.

I pray all is well with you and all residents of our UK ashram.

All is well in the UK ashram. The spring is arriving and we are taking yellow flowers from the garden to worship our Deities.
Lilavati Devi is planting potatoes today and I have been painting and repairing fences.

At least this is one place in the UK where there is no fear of Coronavirus and it is not being chanted on a daily basis.
To refer to it, we have adopted your brilliant devotional idea and call it the Krishna Karuna virus.

he krishna karuna-sindho dina-bandho jagat-pate

O my dear Krishna, ocean of mercy, You are the friend of the distressed and the source of creation. You are the master of the cow herd men and the lover of the gopis, especially Radharani. I offer my respectful obeisances unto You.

May Lord Krishna deliver me from the fear of birth, death, disease and old age.

Your servant,

Uddharan dasa

Srila Giri Maharaja – “A picture worth a thousand words.”

3/23/20

Dear Sriman Jagadananda dasa,

Please accept my blessings and well-wishes in remembrance of my Divine Masters.

I received your Vyasa Puja offering in the form of your email attached below marking the appearance day of your spiritual master. I was encouraged to read the content as what you expressed are the appropriate words of appreciation that should be expressed and felt by disciples for their guru. For these reasons I asked for your email to be posted on our website, along with some of the photos you sent, for the satisfaction of my Divine Masters.

It is said a picture is worth a thousand words and it is sometimes true. I was very happy to see the photo of your altar along with your offerings of bhoga for it represents qualities we deeply appreciate and desire to cultivate. In your photos, as well as your letter, are the display of simplicity, affection and straight forward dealings that are the foundation stones upon which a genuine relationship between a guru and disciple are built. As such, they are similarly useful for the cultivation of Krishna consciousness in the line of our Sri Guru Varga who have taught us to reject duplicity and even the grandeur of Vaikuntha in favor of the delicate beauty found in the simple dealings of love and affection exhibited between Krishna and the braja-basis which infuse devotees with joy and melt the hearts of the worst type of materialists who have the great fortune of hearing about such pastimes.… Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Advice sought & given.”

Date: Jan. 13, 2020

Dear Mr. Deace,

During your Monday show (1/13/20) you asked for opinions as to whether or not you should accept a position with CNN.

Only three days ago you said this: “they’re not our media, they’re the propaganda arm of a hostile invading force.”

Steve Deace show January 10, 2020
“What you saw this week with the media aspect, for the remaining few of you who thought we were too confrontational and provocative last year when we said this is, this is an enemy media. This is enemy of a hostile invading force but … INDISTINCT … most of you are like “Why didn’t you start saying this like four years ago?” But for the few remaining of you that are wondering why we did that, you saw this week why. You saw the willingness to be the mouthpiece of the state run media for a rogue regime not even most of the Muslim world, including other Muslim countries that export terrorism — by the way most of the Muslim world doesn’t like trust or consider a friend — and our media could not wait to cozy up to them in order to be their mouthpiece. Dear Om Vishnupada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacharya-varya Astottara-sata Sri Srila Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja

We are at your lotus feet offering our most humble obeisances.

All glories to our param gurus Srila Govinda Maharaja, Srila Sridhara Maharaja and Srila Swami Maharaja. All glories to you and we wish you a very happy vyasa-puja and pray to Srimati Radharani for many happy returns of this auspicious day!

I offer you my life and everything I own. It is all at your disposal to do as you wish. My wife, my children, and I wish to take this opportunity, as with each day, to rededicate ourselves to you and your divine mission.

As I gaze upon your picture on my simple altar, I’m reminded of how fortunate I really am to have you, Srila Giri Maharaja, as my guru maharaja. Although not deserving of your shelter, Lord Krishna showed me His mercy and sent you to me.

You have all knowledge of the absolute, whereas I am swimming in an ocean of misery and ignorance. You are divine and it is only through you that I should ever hope to be a particle of dust at the Lord’s feet. I am forever lost, wandering through this material world, a world you have cast off so that you can guide fallen jivas such as I, and that this fallen soul may have even a small taste of divine nectar.… Read More...
